Copyright Law Revision

Taiwan has amended its copyright law to try to comply with the requirements of the TRIPS Agreement. The changes are the following:

1. The authority governing copyright affairs is transferred from the Ministry of Interior to the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), which also has jurisdiction over Taiwan's Intellectual Property Office (TIPO).

2.The abolition of the requirement for registration.

3. Penalties for copyright infringement have been reduced under the revised law.
